Winter has come in with a fury and for many living just about anywhere east of the Rockies, thoughts of staying warm and cozy, are, without a doubt a top priority. For those of us in Southern California, however, we don’t have to deal with such harsh weather conditions. Nevertheless, when our skies turn gray and the gods finally bring us much needed rain, I am in heaven. I love when weather gives you a reason to stay inside….getting warm…..staying cozy. Bring out the board games, light the fire, curl up on the sofa, sip a cup of hot cocoa, catch up on some reading or watch a favorite movie or two, whatever gets you through inclement weather. I also find it helps to have a few essential elements in place to help create a space that is welcoming and comfortable. Below are some images which I feel evoke a sense of warmth and cozy, whether it is from color, texture or lighting. Annnnnnnd, after you have enjoyed all of these inspiring images, I have created a moodboard with some of my Essential Warm & Cozy Elements. I hope you enjoy!
Cozy and warm, Southwest style. Even though this space has lots of volume, it still feels warm and cozy with its large, timber-beamed ceiling, smooth, plastered walls in a soft, earthy color, large-scaled leather chaise, textured, natural area rug, niches filled with antique books, collected artifacts and, of course, a divine fireplace. Sipping a glass of cognac by the fireplace seems like a cozy thing to do in this room. Image via Traditional Home. Photography: Michael Venera. Design: Patti Burdick.
Warmth from texture found on the fireplace and beamed ceiling. Lots of seating done in soft, earthy-toned fabrics, provide plenty of cozy places to curl up with a good book. Image via. Photography: Werner Straube. Design: Anna Clark.
Nothing beats the roar of a fire when there is a chill in the air and what better than to get cozy in two club chairs with an ottoman to prop up your feet. A cup of tea, a good book and I’m comfy, comfy. Via Southern Living.

WARM AND COZY ~ MY ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS
For my cozy bedroom, I love a bed with crisp, luxurious linens, a luscious down comforter covered in a beautiful fabric, pillows for a perfect nights rest, not to mention being able to prop oneself up to read a good book or look at the morning paper while sipping a hot, yummy cappuccino. Of course, good lighting, a must, chic and stylish…..a few personal objects for the beside table to keep items like a pair of reading glasses, if needed, or the t.v. remote…..a pair of comfy slippers and, of course, a cashmere throw (1), because cashmere is something beautiful, warm and very, very tactile. And, while we are on the subject of My Essential Warm & Cozy Elements, let’s not forget the bathroom. Candles, scented, perhaps like these (2) from this lovely company and, definitely thick and luscious towels (3), from here. So, there you have it, my Visions to Inspire and Designs to Enrich.
