This year, Pantone decided to gift the design world with two Pantone Colors of the Year for 2016. The color authority chose the delicate Rose Quartz and the calming blue Serenity and while this news certainly isn’t the newest story on the block, I thought these images of interior spaces show just how beautiful these colors are when used thoughtfully and tastefully. Visions to Inspire~~

It is hard to believe, here it is the 4th of July! My gosh, where is this year going? We don’t have any special plans this year for the holiday, and quite frankly, that is just fine. I am finding that I prefer to stay close to home, having a little barbeque with family. In years past, we could easily be found down at the Dana Point Harbor, boating and enjoying a day on the water until the sun set and then watching the firework display from the barge that is anchored just outside Doheny State Beach, but those days are over and quite honestly, I am more than fine with that. It was loads of fun when my, now grown children, were younger, but over the years, the harbor has gotten more and more crowded and once you are there, you are definitely committed to staying there the entire day. This means you better get there early and be prepared to get home after midnight…..the traffic is abominable!! Anywho, whatever your plans may be, I wish everyone a safe and Happy 4th! Red, White and Blue….be inspired……

Blue and Brown ~~

The perfect pair ~~~ and, of course, they should be, after all it’s everywhere in Mother Nature. Blue and brown is, quite wonderfully a match made in heaven. Light and airy hues, dark and rich shades, or a combination of the two. This dynamic duo can jazz up any space.

BOLD GUEST ROOM – The rich, dark chocolate brown wall is a stunning backdrop for bold accessories. The striped wallpaper, above, is an element of surprise. That fifth wall is the perfect spot for an opportunity of whimsy. Bringing in the orange accents really livens up the space.

BLUE AND WHITE BEDROOM. Shades of blue enhanced by white and grounded with brown in a bedroom for a young adult bedroom. Do you remember who this bedroom was designed for? (Hint: Remember RHONY). Love what they did with that fifth wall, the ceiling, great graphic.

The blue day bed adds just the right pop of color. Interior Design: Jonathan Staub and Masion Philpotto Miller.

BEACHY KEEN.  Neutral hues and splashes of blue are a nod to the ocean outside.

CHEERFUL FAMILY ROOM. Interior Design: Mary O’Brien Cabaron.

TRELLIS DRAPERIES. Interior Design: Mary O’Brien Cabaron.

DREAM TEAM. Interior Design: Hèléne Aumont.  Well, I just love this entire space, those high pitched ceilings with wood beams. The drapery hardware that mimics the arch of the window, the fabulous sectional in that deep oceanic teal blue, flanked by chocolate brown club chairs, the tiered chocolate stained coffee table and overlooking all the blue and chocolate brown, is a gorgeous iron chandelier, embellished with teal blue crystals. And, I spy with my little eye, what looks like a Robert McDonald bronze dancer sculpture posing in front of that fabulous picture window. It’s all so beautiful!

SELA WARD’S STYLISH HOME. Chairs in blue, spill-proof fabric sit atop a brown rug by Ebanista. Interior Design: Ann Runyon Carter.
