HOME TOUR ~ KATIE KIME

I first came across this article written by Rebecca Dalzell and photographed by Genevieve Garrupo in Lonny and it just made me smile. I was so inspired by her fresh take on design that I had to share her very inspiring home in Austin, Texas. Katie Kime is someone who sees the world as though you were on a merry-go-round ride around the color wheel. Traveling has been a great inspiration for her, from bright Moroccan poufs, Obami embroidery or Turkish kilims. “Color in these countries is so bright and bold and fearless, pink with orange, red with pink.” Katie Kime’s home is filled with bright, bold patterns and whimsy. Her interiors website and brand began in 2013 and now, she has expanded to a brick-and-mortar showroom in Austin, Texas.

HOME TOUR ~~ HERMOSA BEACH, CA

Interior designer, Lynn Pépe had a client that presented her with a jewel in the rough. It was a Hermosa Beach, California Mediterranean-Style home on a half-acre lot with a stunning view of the Pacific along with the rare perk for this densely populated South Bay  beach town, privacy. Initially, the designer’s client wanted to remodel just the kitchen and bathrooms in the circa 1980s faux Mediterranean-style home. But, the designer had an ‘unabated passion’ for the homes potential. The designer’s guts and tenacity won her client over, and as a result, the residence had undergone a complete remodel, ‘almost down to the studs’. Let’s take a tour of this beautifully remodeled Mediterranean-style home with Moroccan touches.

SOUTHERN CHARM HOUSE TOUR

I must admit, I am a big fan of Bravo TV…..it’s my little guilty pleasure. I’ve long indulged in the Real Housewives franchise, enjoying the Housewives of Orange County, New York and Beverly Hills, but my latest fave, is Southern Charm. I didn’t see last season, but I had no problem getting to know the cast of characters and I quickly gathered a list of favorites. Of course, the Jacksonville, Florida born Patricia Altschul, is very much at the top of my list. I love her….”the resident madcap grande dame”…..famous for her no-nonsense advice, wicked tongue and, a definite appreciation for a high quality cocktail. I’m just a bit envious of her butler who does a fabulous job of whipping up whatever cocktail one might fancy. I’m particularly fond of the time she “rang him for her dressing cocktail”. I mean, honestly my dears, doesn’t everyone need one of these? Anywhoooo, Architectural Digest did a fabulous article about her home in Charleston, South Carolina, which she commissioned the iconic interior designer, Mario Buatta to help her renovate. Let’s take the tour……

This Laguna Beach home was, by no means, a “love at first sight” for the young homeowners, but designer, Wendi Young was able to see beyond the dark paint colors, gold leafing and heavy drapery. The designer convinced the homeowners and began the transformation. Read more about this fabulous home hereEnjoy the tour, European-Inspired Contemporary Laguna Beach, CA Home with Rustic Elements!

HOME TOUR ~ ALESSANDRA BRANCA

She was longing for the color, light and life of Rome, where she had grown up. Alessandra Branca turns the top floor of a 16th-century convent into a rich yet relaxed home that satisfies her craving for a fixed address in the Italian capital of Rome. The urban getaway had to be large enough to accommodate her entire family, including her husband and their three grown children, and low-maintenance enough to be managed from overseas. To read more about this lovely home, see the article here. Photography by Simon Upton.

Alessandra Branca said, “Rome made me learn the beauty of a home is the accumulation of experiences, and not just things.” “You are setting the stage for the life you want to live.” “In the end, she understood, that’s what ‘la dolce vita’ is all about.”
