HOME TOUR ~~ HERMOSA BEACH, CA

Interior designer, Lynn Pépe had a client that presented her with a jewel in the rough. It was a Hermosa Beach, California Mediterranean-Style home on a half-acre lot with a stunning view of the Pacific along with the rare perk for this densely populated South Bay  beach town, privacy. Initially, the designer’s client wanted to remodel just the kitchen and bathrooms in the circa 1980s faux Mediterranean-style home. But, the designer had an ‘unabated passion’ for the homes potential. The designer’s guts and tenacity won her client over, and as a result, the residence had undergone a complete remodel, ‘almost down to the studs’. Let’s take a tour of this beautifully remodeled Mediterranean-style home with Moroccan touches.

This Laguna Beach home was, by no means, a “love at first sight” for the young homeowners, but designer, Wendi Young was able to see beyond the dark paint colors, gold leafing and heavy drapery. The designer convinced the homeowners and began the transformation. Read more about this fabulous home hereEnjoy the tour, European-Inspired Contemporary Laguna Beach, CA Home with Rustic Elements!

A beautiful Master Bath reprieve ~ with draperies from Restoration Hardware, an antique stool and a classic, traditional crystal chandelier. Yes, this European-inspired restoration beautifully marries the contemporary with the rustic, a juxtaposition of elements that I would be happy to retire in, soaking luxuriously in a soothing, spa-inspired bath, melting away the days trials and tribulations.

HOT HOMES ~ 12 BEDROOM LAGUNA BEACH ESTATE

The “Mariona”~~~~~

A sprawling, oceanfront Laguna Beach estate overlooking a private cove, was built nearly 100 years ago. This fabulous estate, perched on a cliff of prime real estate, was sold in 2012 for $12.75 million to investors from Denmark. They restored and enhanced it, adding modern, high-tech touches. Now……it’s on the market…….again……and?????, the asking price is a mere $30,000,000.00!!!!! This Mediterranean Revival-style compound has quite a storied past. It was built by Frank Augustus Miller, developer of the historic Mission Inn in Riverside, California. This Laguna house was a wedding gift to his second wife, “Marion”. For many years, the secluded estate was known as Villa Rockledge. It sits on a 1/2-acre of lush gardens and winding pathways. At the back of the property, a staircase descends to a 120-foot-long sandy beach with crashing waves. Modern amenities, such as Wi-Fi have been added which certainly contrasts with its 1918 beginnings. Neither power tools or electricity was used. The entire compound, except for an upper guest villa, was built by hand.
