SINGING THE BLUES

I’m Singing The Blues, not in a sad way, but in an inspiring way. Blue is HOT, HOT, HOT, right now…..in Home Decor and Fashion. I wouldn’t say it is a trendy color, but a classic color that works wonderfully with so many other colors. I love it with Emerald GreenBright Orange. Shocking Pink, Bright Yellow, and Black, to name just a few. Of course, the color Blue, along with Red and White is particularly symbolic this time of year with the 4th of July happening in just a matter of days. Wow, it’s so hard to believe how fast this year is flying by. Nevertheless, I love the color blue no matter what the occasion and thought it would be fun to share some of my blue home decor, fashion and art that I find inspiring which I have curated from Polyvore. Enjoy my Rhapsody In Blue……

16 INSPIRING WAYS TO USE BLUE

A Little Bit About the Color Blue

Did you know that blue is the overwhelming favorite color? Well it is! Blue is seen as trustworthy, dependable and committed. The color blue is considered the least “gender specific” color and has an equal appeal to both men and women. It is the color of the ocean and the sky and it is perceived as a constant in our lives. It is the color of the spirit and it invokes rest and can also cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming. Here are 16 beautiful ways that blue has been used in these interior spaces…..inspiring ways, for sure…..

SOUTHERN CHARM HOUSE TOUR

I must admit, I am a big fan of Bravo TV…..it’s my little guilty pleasure. I’ve long indulged in the Real Housewives franchise, enjoying the Housewives of Orange County, New York and Beverly Hills, but my latest fave, is Southern Charm. I didn’t see last season, but I had no problem getting to know the cast of characters and I quickly gathered a list of favorites. Of course, the Jacksonville, Florida born Patricia Altschul, is very much at the top of my list. I love her….”the resident madcap grande dame”…..famous for her no-nonsense advice, wicked tongue and, a definite appreciation for a high quality cocktail. I’m just a bit envious of her butler who does a fabulous job of whipping up whatever cocktail one might fancy. I’m particularly fond of the time she “rang him for her dressing cocktail”. I mean, honestly my dears, doesn’t everyone need one of these? Anywhoooo, Architectural Digest did a fabulous article about her home in Charleston, South Carolina, which she commissioned the iconic interior designer, Mario Buatta to help her renovate. Let’s take the tour……

COLOR CRUSH ~~ BLUSH

Blush~~~

This pretty, whisper soft shade of pink can be found in many variations, from the dew-kissed petals of a pale pink peony to the almost iridescent shades on a seashell. It is a fresh, innocent color that is pretty without being too cutesy and it is an unexpected neutral that I am definitely crushing on.
